October 12, 2016

Dear CAG2016 Delegate,

We are writing today to let you know that the CAG2016 conference venue, the Hotel Bonaventure Montreal, is currently experiencing a labour action involving some members of its staff.

The hotel continues to operate and to host large events, like ours, and we do not anticipate disruptions to our conference at present.

While we hope for a resolution to this issue, we unfortunately do not expect that this labour action will end before our conference begins on October 20, 2016.

We are disappointed that this labour action has occurred and while we support the rights of workers, unfortunately our contractual obligations leave us in a difficult situation where it is not practically or financially feasible to relocate, reschedule or otherwise alter the conference program as it currently stands.

We ask for your understanding in this situation; to our knowledge, this is the first time our conference has been affected by labour action and we are trying to manage the situation to the best of our abilities to deliver an exciting knowledge sharing and networking experience at CAG2016.

We continue to look forward to welcoming you in Montreal.

Yours sincerely,
Canadian Association on Gerontology
